The western city gate fortified the trade route between Nuremberg and Bohemia and was known as the Linder Gate, named after the road leading from Oberlind. The gate stood along what is now Pfarrgasse, just before the intersections with Wittschauer Straße and Schreinergasse. A bridge crossed the defensive moat that followed the gate. It was demolished before the great city fire of 1839 and was never rebuilt.
